COVENTRY, UK - The Modec, a new electric truck that generates zero emissions, was selected by trade media editors at The Work Truck Show 2008 as the most innovative product to debut at the show, according to Lawn & Landscape magazine. It received The Work Truck Show 2008 Editors’ Choice Award for New Product Innovation.

The Work Truck Show 2008 was held in conjunction with the 44th Annual National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) Convention Feb. 26–28, at the Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta.

Attending media selected the Editor’s Choice Award winner from a field of nearly 100 products introduced through the Work Truck Show New Product Spotlight and New Product Media Guide programs.

The Modec electric vehicle is manufactured by UK-based Modec Limited. Since June 2007, the company has been conducting market research in preparation for producing and selling the vehicles in North America. Modec vehicles are already in service in the UK.

At the Work Truck Show 2008, Modec had one vehicle in its booth and a second in constant use as part of the Hybrid Truck and Alternative Fuels Ride-and-Drive.

“Modec has an outstanding, eye-catching design, because any five-year-old will tell you that there is no point in being good if nobody notices,” said Lord Borwick, Modec chairman. “The NTEA award shows that Modec is being noticed by the people who count in the United States.”

In addition to producing no emissions, the Modec vehicle is virtually silent. It has a turning radius of just 36 feet, a 4,400 lb. load capacity and a range in excess of 100 miles on a single charge. It was designed and built from the ground up to be an efficient, environmentally friendly commercial vehicle. It features a unique design and can be configured for a variety of applications.
