The lighter-weight diesel truck emits 700 lbs. less carbon per month than a conventional truck, according to a report by ARI – Automotive Resources International. Based on the report, E.A. Sween senior management anticipate that the trucks will emit 4.2 ton less carbon dioxide annually.
Thermo King, a manufacturer of temperature control systems for a variety of mobile applications and a brand of Ingersoll Rand, handled the refrigeration for the E.A. Sween truck. Other development partners included Isuzu, Johnson Truck Bodies, and ARI.
The sustainable fleet option was pursued when E.A. Sween leadership decided to expand from a traditionally all-frozen transportation fleet with cold-plate technology to one with multi-temperature capabilities, according to the company. The updated solution reflects the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship through fleet sustainability.
