General Motors will offer a free Dell computer system worth $800 to U.S. consumers to buy or lease a 2003 model year Saturn vehicle, the latest incentive the carmaker has used to boost sales, Reuters reported. Under GM's "Buy a Saturn, Get a Dell" program, which runs until the end of September, consumers who buy 2003 Saturn Ion small car, L-Series mid-size car or Vue sport utility vehicle will receive a certificate for the Dell Dimension 2400 desktop computer, Reuters said. The news agency noted that the free computer is in addition to GM's current incentives on the Saturns, including zero percent financing or $2,000 cash back on the Ion and Vue and $3,000 cash on the L-Series. Last month, Saturn promoted its cars on the QVC home-shopping television network in an attempt to lure more women buyers, Reuters added. The news agency noted that GM has led Detroit's price war, stepping up incentives to try to grab market share from competitors, and, in August, offered $4,370 per vehicle, the highest amount in the industry, according to Autodata Corp., which tracks the automotive industry.
