All fluids, with the exception of the coolant, should be checked in accordance with the owner's manual - usually every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. Coolant should be changed every two years or 30,000 miles. * Check drive belts, hoses and clamps. Every 5,000 miles, check, tighten and replace when needed. * Inspect battery level and cables. Loose cables or corrosion of the battery could cause breakdowns. * Inspect the air filter. Maintaining a clean air filter is crucial as more cars fill the nation's highways. A dirty air filter could cause engine damage and gives the car less power.
