The upgraded 6.6L V-8 turbo diesel can now produce 445 horsepower and 910 lb.-ft. of torque. While Chevrolet will also offer this engine in its 2020 Silverado HD lineup, the GMC trucks will pair it with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission. The Silverado is paired with a 6-speed automatic.
The 2020 Sierra HD adds an array of trailering, traction, and stability control technologies, including a camera system that enables the Transparent Trailer feature, which helps a driver see through a towed trailer using a mode that combined two tailgate camera views.
GMC has upgraded the ProGrade Trailering system, which now offers 15 camera views and the first Rear Camera Mirror in the segment.

The 2020 GMC Sierra HD includes a new feature known as Transparent Trailer that allows drivers to see directly behind the load.

Also new for 2020 is an off-road focused AT4 trim grade that features an off-road suspension with Rancho Shocks, an Eaton locking rear differential, skid plates, and red tow hooks.
The 2020 Sierra HD trucks will go on sale later this year as 2500HD, 3500HD, and 3500HD with dual rear wheels. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
