Mercedes-Benz unveiled its second-generation 2019 G-Class luxury SUV, which is host to several new updates including a roomier interior, a new suspension, and it is now longer and wider.

While the appearance of the all-new G-Class has remained largely unchanged, the inside now offers 1.5 more inches of legroom in the front seats and 5.9 inches of space for the rear passengers. Shoulder room and elbow room have also been improved upon, according to the automaker. Under the hood, it boasts a 4.0-liter V8 gasoline engine with a new biturbo that produces an output of 416 hp and a maximum torque of 450 lb.-ft.

The exterior of the all-new G-Class is now 2.1 inches longer and 4.8 inches wider, Mercedes-Benz announced at the North American International Auto Show. Also, ground clearance was increased by 9.5 inches. Driving stability at angles increases seven degrees to 35 degrees. Angle of approach increases one degree to 31 degrees. Breakover angle approaches one degree to 26 degrees.

A new independent suspension with double-wishbone front axle in combination with a rigid rear axle is also now featured on the new G-Class. The components of the double-wishbone front axle are directly mounted to the ladder-type frame without a subframe. The lower wishbone's attachment points on the frame in Z-axis are positioned as high up as possible.

Also available for 2019 are four Dynamic Select driving modes: Eco, Comfort, Sport, and Individual.

The new vehicle offers a new nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission with a torque converter that's designed for off-road driving. It delivers 40% of the torque to the front axle and 60% to the rear axle. A switch activates Low Range or High Range model.

Also available as standard for the new G-Class are LED headlights. Available driving assistance systems for the G-Class includes a parking assist features.
