The 2017 Ram ProMaster full-size van will arrive with upgrades designed to improve upfitting for the chassis cab and cutaway models, as well as an updated Uconnect infotainment system, according to the FCA business unit.
Ram has widened the rear axle on chassis cab and cutaway models to allow service bodies to fit more snugly onto the vehicle.
"We made the axle wider in the back," said Dave Sowers, head of Ram Truck marketing, commercial vehicles. "That allows a more flush application."
The ProMaster also comes with upfit interface connectors and rear speaker wiring prep as standard on the 15 models. The van will arrive with the available Uconnect 3.0 infotainment system.
Ram will again offer the ProMaster as a 1500, 2500 and 3500 with low or high roof. Ram will offer three wheelbases (118, 136, and 159 inches) and an optional extended body or extended frame for the 3500 cutaway with the 159-inch wheelbase.
Ram has carried over the engine lineup, which includes a 3.6L Pentastar V-6 and 3.0L EcoDiesel inline-4. The 118-inch wheelbase will no longer be available with the diesel engine. Diesel-equipped ProMaster vans will include a new standard electronic parking brake.
Lastly, the Smoker's Group option that adds an ashtray and cigarette lighter is now only available through Mopar dealers.
The 2017 ProMaster City compact van remains nearly unchanged. Ram has added Bluetooth to the base radio and several new reflectors to the rear cargo doors.
