InPower has introduced a new compact and economical plug-and-play Data Bus Throttle (DBT) that is compatible with medium-duty trucks equipped with a Cummins engine.

InPower’s new DBT features an SMT design that incorporates the latest technologies in electronic components to extend the life of the throttle and reduce its overall cost. The compact throttle measures 3.25 inches high and 2 inches wide and will list for $82. It’s easy to install by plugging directly into the vehicle’s on-board diagnostic (OBD) connector, and does not require the use of Stationary Elevated Idle Control (SEIC) wires. The DBT includes a “Y” cable allowing the vehicle’s OBD connector to remain open and available for field technician access.

For easy troubleshooting, there are eight diagnostic LED indicators for key safety inputs, including Data Bus, Park, Park Brake, Service Brake, Vehicle Speed and Accelerator.

The DBT is available with one adjustable and one charge protect output for throttle control. However, if charge protect is not needed, a model with two adjustable outputs is available. The DBT may also be customized with features such as a fixed RPM to raise idle speed to a pre-determined, fixed level to prevent end-user adjustments that could damage auxiliary equipment. Inputs may also be programmed as pull-up or pull-down.
