Penske Truck Leasing Selects Locaid to Add Network Location to Roadside Assistance
Locaid worked with Penske to develop a custom interface that integrates directly into the company's 24/7 roadside assistance service.
Penske Truck Leasing has selected Locaid, one of the world's largest Location-as-a-Service (LaaS) companies, as the network mobile location provider for its 24/7 roadside assistance service. The addition of Locaid's location data cements Penske's commitment to providing its customers with the most innovative end-to-end transportation services in the industry.
As a global transportation services leader, Penske's mobile strategy is designed to take into account all of its customers no matter what device they carry. With four billion mobile subscribers still using feature phones that means that Penske had to think beyond an app.
"Whether it is through truck leasing or truck contract maintenance, the one thing our customers' drivers have in common is that they're mobile," said Peter J. Lubin, director, Utility & Telecommunications Services, Penske. "Locaid's network coverage and ability to locate drivers, regardless of device, and report back in real time was the obvious choice to add value to our services."
Locaid worked with Penske to develop a custom interface that integrates directly into the company's 24/7 service to support the levels of visibility and tracking that the Penske customer requires. Integrating network mobile location allows Penske to locate over 423 million wireless devices on tier one and two networks in real time.
Rip Gerber, president & CEO of Locaid comments: "Penske's innovative transportation services coupled with the unrivalled reach of Locaid's location data will make Penske's 24/7 roadside assistance service the leading solution in the industry."
