Navistar unveiled its new TerraStar 4x4 medium-duty work truck, which the company said is one of its newest additions to its class 5-8 product lineup. The company originally launched the International TerraStar in 2010 in a 4x2 configuration, and this new 4x4 version provides additional capabilities to the company’s customers.

The TerraStar 4x4 features a 300 hp 6.4L V-8 engine that can deliver 660 lb. ft. of torque, according to Navistar. The commercial-grade TerraStar cab comes in extended cab or crew cab configurations and is constructed of double-sided, galvanized, high-strength steel protected by a five-step coating process to resist corrosion.

The TerraStar 4x4 also includes the International Diamond Logic electrical system, which allows the engine, transmission, instrument panel, and other vehicle components to continually communicate with each other electronically. This system monitors critical vehicle functions and can relay information to the driver in real-time. It also features automated pre-trip inspections, headlights on with wipers, automatically engaged safety interlocks, programmable switches, plus others depending on the application.

Other features include an Allison Optimized 1000 Series transmission; a Fabco TC-28 gear-driven transfer case; an International Ride Optimized Suspension (IROS), longer 138- and 150-inch CA offerings with the standard cab to accommodate 18- and 20-foot bodies; an aluminum step package and stainless steel fuel tank straps; a commercial style tilt-away hood for easy access to the vehicle’s engine compartment; and 80,000 PSI frame rails and a huck-bolted frame.
