Previous California sales restrictions on select Ford Super Duty diesel chassis cab models no longer apply, according to a recent dealer communication.

The update affects diesel-powered F-550 and F-600 chassis cab units above 19,500-lbs. GVWR that had previously been subject to sales and delivery limitations tied to California registration. Under the updated guidance, those vehicles can now be sold or delivered to customers who register them in any state, including California.

Ford also said that previously required attestations are no longer required for ordering F-550 and F-600 diesel chassis cabs. In addition, F-550 models equipped with Payload Plus Upgrade Package 1 (68M) and Payload Plus Upgrade Package 2 (68H) can now be sold or delivered to customers who register their vehicles in any state.

The dealer communication states that the previous EFC16671 notice is no longer valid. It also notes that the changes do not apply to any current or previous communications regarding F-650 or F-750 sales restrictions.

More About the Ford F-600

For fleets, the F-600 remains an important truck in Ford’s chassis cab lineup because it slots between the F-550 and F-650. Ford says the model delivers Class 6 capability, including a maximum GVWR of 22,000 lbs., in a package that is the same overall size as the F-550. That gives fleets a way to handle heavier payloads and larger upfits without moving into a larger truck.

Ford also says the F-600 chassis cab is available with a standard 7.3L gas V-8 or an available 6.7L Power Stroke diesel V-8, along with 4x2 and 4x4 configurations. The truck also offers driver-assist features, onboard connectivity via a standard modem with 4G LTE Wi-Fi capability, and Ford telematics and data services to improve uptime, utilization, and fleet management.
