Work Truck is bringing horsepower energy to a gravity-powered race.
Lauren Fletcher, vice president of content for Work Truck, will represent the brand as Team Fletcher in the 2026 Corporate Soap Box Derby Challenge, returning August 20–21 at Historic Derby Downs in Akron, Ohio.
The Challenge, presented by Bobit Business Media alongside the International Soap Box Derby and The Hourglass Foundation, invites organizations to build and race custom soap box derby cars while supporting scholarships for students pursuing careers in automotive technology and skilled trades.
“The Corporate Derby Challenge is back, and we’re thrilled to relaunch it with Bobit Business Media,” said Dennis VanFossen Jr., president and CEO of the International Soap Box Derby. “It’s a high-energy way to bring organizations into the Derby Downs experience while supporting our broader education and youth development goals.”
Beyond the race itself, Team Fletcher is gearing up for a friendly rivalry within Bobit, competing against Automotive Fleet’s Team Brown to secure the most corporate sponsors ahead of race day. Sponsorships are open to anyone and offer a front-row seat to the Challenge without requiring a helmet.
Funds raised through sponsorships directly benefit The Hourglass Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to helping underserved students access hands-on education that leads to real-world careers. Additional proceeds support the International Soap Box Derby’s STEM education programs for youth.
Bobit Business Media will field two cars in the Challenge, using the event as a creative way to connect with fleet, vocational truck, and automotive audiences while giving back to the next generation of technicians and leaders.
“We’re honored to be part of this event and hope the fleet community jumps in, whether that’s racing a car in Akron or sponsoring a team,” said Kim Davidson, executive director of The Hourglass Foundation. “Support like this helps us build scholarship access and visibility, and it gives everyone a reason to have some fun while making a difference.”
Sponsorships for Team Fletcher are available at $500 per sponsor, with logos displayed on the car throughout the event. Or, join in on the fun, and do both - sponsor a team AND consider entering your own car into the race! Details here!
The Corporate Derby Challenge welcomes participation from organizations of all sizes and industries, with racing scheduled for August 20–21, 2026, in Akron.
