Rivian Automotive announced that it is opening sales of the Rivian Commercial Van to fleets of all sizes in the U.S. The Rivian Commercial Van, the platform for Amazon’s custom electric delivery van (EDV), was designed from the ground up with a focus on safety, driver comfort, total cost of ownership, and sustainability.
Safety features include automatic emergency braking, collision warnings, and 360-degree visibility, making it one of the safest commercial vehicles on the road.

Expanded Availability Following Successful Fleet Trials
Since the conclusion of Rivian and Amazon’s exclusivity period, Rivian has been trialing its commercial van with several large U.S. fleets and refining its fleet management process for broader availability.
“Over the last year, we have focused on testing with larger fleets, and we’re very pleased with the results,” said Tom Solomon, senior director of business development at Rivian. “As a result, we’re excited to now open sales to fleets of all sizes in the U.S., whether they need a single van or thousands.”
The Rivian Commercial Van is available in two sizes, the 500 and the 700, offering a payload of up to 2,663 pounds and a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of up to 9,500 pounds. Rivian’s in-house software stack controls nearly every interaction, from unlocking the vehicle and opening the door to charging and acceleration. These integrated tools help streamline the ownership experience, reduce costs, and enhance safety and productivity.
Rivian’s commercial vans have already demonstrated success through existing partnerships.
“Amazon currently has more than 20,000 in its fleet and delivered over a billion packages from its Electric Delivery Vans in 2024 alone,” Solomon said. “Our vehicles are designed not only to be among the safest on the road but also to help fleet owners reduce ownership costs and their carbon footprint.”
