The Pacific Coast Heavy Truck Group is the latest company to become a Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks Certified Electric Vehicle (EV) Dealer.

The company went through requirements so that it would be able to service and support the Mack LR Electric refuse model. The next generation Mack LR Electric refuse vehicle offers 42% more energy and a standard 376kWh total battery capacity for increased range between charges.

To become EV-certified, Mack dealers must meet numerous safety, infrastructure, charging, tooling, and training requirements.

Pacific Coast has 28 technicians, 12 of whom are master techs and two of whom are certified EV technicians.

“We decided to become EV-certified so that we were ready to support our customers because it is clear the future of transportation, and trucking specifically, is moving toward electrification,” said Ken North, Pacific Coast Mack brand manager. “Several customers have inquired about the Mack LR Electric, and we look forward to servicing and supporting them in the future.”

Pacific Coast also became the first Volvo Trucks Certified EV Dealer in British Columbia, Canada, and is now the fourth Volvo Trucks Certified EV Dealer in Canada.

“With the certification of Pacific Coast Heavy Truck Group’s B.C. location, Volvo Trucks now has certified EV dealers from coast to coast in both Canada and the U.S.,” said Peter Voorhoeve, president, of Volvo Trucks North America. “We are making good on our efforts to develop the robust sales and service support ecosystem necessary to expand electromobility adoption and to support customers throughout North America with their zero-emission transportation goals.”

Pacific Coast added that its sales team is prepared to help customers access Canada’s Transport Ministry’s incentive program that was announced in July 2022 and provides nearly $550 million for the purchase or lease of new medium- and heavy-duty, zero-tailpipe emission vehicles.

The Real Deal

Pacific Coast is not the only company to earn this certification in 2022.

In September, Nuss Truck became a Certified Electric Vehicle (EV) Dealer at its Roseville, Minnesota, location. Nuss is the first and only Mack dealer in the State of Minnesota and the first in the Central Region to achieve EV certification status.

Volvo Trucks North America designated Gabrielli Truck Sales as a Certified Electric Vehicle (EV) Dealer in July. At the time of the news, Gabrielli Truck Sales completed the required sales and service training, as well as the necessary facility updates to its Jamaica, New York, location.

Earlier this year, TransEdge Truck Centers announced it has become a Certified Electric Vehicle (EV) Dealer at its Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, location.

And in a series of firsts, Ballard Truck Center became the first Volvo Truck Certified Electric Vehicle (EV) Dealer in Massachusetts in June.
