PC*MILER|Worldwide 25.1

ALK Technologies, Inc., a developer of truck-specific routing, mileage, and mapping software, announced the release of industry-standard PC*MILER|Worldwide 25.1. It generates routes, distances, transit times, maps, and driving directions over the entire international highway network. Regional coverage includes Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania, and South America.
ALK's proprietary routing and map data have been relied upon by the United States Department of Defense (DoD) as their official worldwide distance standard for more than a decade. In numerous regions outside of North America, NAVTEQ digital map data has been seamlessly integrated with ALK's proprietary routing network to create the most robust solution of its kind.
"ALK provides seamless worldwide coverage in 224 countries with digital maps from the best available sources," said Michael Kornhauser, Senior Vice President, Enterprise Solutions - ALK Technologies. "Our goal is to provide customers with the most accurate and complete map data worldwide in a consistent manner so that our partners and customers don't have to deal with integrating data from different providers. This enhanced coverage enables users to more accurately optimize, visualize and manage their global supply chains."
The PC*MILER|Worldwide 25.1 database has been updated with thousands of additional highway and road miles for improved city-to-city routing worldwide, including over 109,000 new miles of roadway in Europe, and over 7,500 new road miles and 220,000 truck restriction enhancements in North America. City and postal code coverage has been updated and consolidated in over 140 countries.
New and enhanced features in PC*MILER|Worldwide 25.1 include 29 languages to choose from for viewing reports, and a new, easy-to-enable "full-size van" vehicle profile option for light truck/automobile routing in Europe and North America. A new time-based routing feature gives users the ability to define a departure or arrival time for more precise calculation of ETA/ETD at each stop on a route, taking time zones into consideration; and a new Time Zone Display option is available for all worldwide regions. Automation enhancements include improved custom place importing, which now accepts postal code, city, state and address data in addition to lat/longs in all regions.
New features also include the addition of international border crossing points around the world; and more realistic transit times in North America based on predictive traffic speed data, along with real-time or historical traffic displays on the map.
