WirelessCar, a global provider of integrated telematics solutions and services to vehicle manufacturers and commercial fleets, has formed a North American headquarters in Irvine, Calif. The expansion into North America, combined with WirelessCar’s presence in the European market and its recent entry into the Asia-Pacific region, supports the company’s position as a global telematics company, according to WirelessCar officials. Headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, WirelessCar offers vehicle manufacturers, the commercial fleet industry, aftermarket system suppliers and telematics service providers a complete array of telematics services. WirelessCar’s single-source, global telematics solution is designed for any company that is seeking ways to increase profitability while reducing complexity and extending their competitive advantage, according to Jan Hellaker, president and CEO of WirelessCar. “WirelessCar is able to serve customers globally and adapt solutions and content to local needs,” Hellaker said. “Wireless technology is ahead in Europe, and the United States takes the lead when it comes to the telematics industry. By using the strengths of these two markets, we are well-positioned to provide our services faster and more economically throughout the regions we serve.” WirelessCar appointed Gary Hallgren to the position of chief operating officer of WirelessCar North America. Hallgren was previously the vice president of operations at Volvo Technology of America, an internal consultancy firm to the Volvo Group. In that position, he led the formation of the company and played a key role in the design and development of Volvo OnCall Plus, a telematics program. “The current market demand for mobile information and wireless Internet is exploding in the U.S., and we are primed and ready to support vehicle manufacturers in the U.S. and help them profit from this exciting new business opportunity,” Hallgren said. In addition to the appointment of Hallgren, WirelessCar has appointed Jennifer Amendola to the position of director of global marketing. Amendola has 20 years of experience managing marketing programs on behalf of Volvo Cars of North America. Her most recent position at Volvo was brand experience manager, where she was responsible for managing Volvo OnCall (Volvo’s roadside assistance program) and Volvo OnCall Plus. The North American management team also includes Greg Jones, director of technology and development; Paul Drysch, director of business development; and Michelle Lenich, director of product management. Together they bring extensive experience from various industries, including automotive (Honda), call center, banking, billing, and e-business. Visit www.wirelesscar.com for more information on the management team.
