Frost & Sullivan has announced @Track Communications, Inc., a provider of wireless-based vehicle fleet management and intelligent mobile-asset-tracking solutions, is the recipient of the 2000 Market Engineering Product Line Strategy Award in the automatic vehicle location (AVL) industry for the innovative expansion of its products and services supporting the transportation industry. The Frost & Sullivan Market Engineering Product Line Strategy Award is bestowed to companies demonstrating great insight into customer needs and product demands within their industry. Award recipients must meet specific criteria, such as introducing new products strategically positioned to balance the product line and the ability to accommodate different market segments. According to new strategic research by Frost & Sullivan, "North American Automatic Vehicle Location Hardware and Service Markets," @Track Communications demonstrated astute product line strategy by expanding its HighwayMaster Series 5000, originally developed for long-haul trucks, to also target vehicles in local/regional use. These units can send and receive data messages, receive event-driven location reports, place voice calls and transmit calls for assistance with a panic button. Optional features include mileage calculation reports, updates on estimated time of arrival and the monitoring of how well a vehicle is being driven. TrackWare, the company's newest introduction, is a product that tracks trailer assets. "With the HighwayMaster Series 5000, HighwayMaster Series 5005S and TrackWare products, @Track covers what we expect to be the three major segments of a market just beginning to realize its tremendous potential," said Joerg Dittmer, Frost & Sullivan analyst. "We appreciate this recognition of @Track's ability to leverage our position and understanding of the transportation industry to extend our value-added products and services," said Todd A. Felker, senior vice president of sales and marketing. "@Track expects to build on our success and introduce additional products that further address this burgeoning marketplace."
