Tele Atlas, a provider of digital map databases and real-time traffic information in the United States and Navtrak, a provider of mobile vehicle location solutions announced an alliance to incorporate Tele Atlas data into Navtrak's fleet applications.
According to the company, Navtrak's AVL solutions powered by Tele Atlas' turn-by-turn map data provide users with a tracking system for fleet management serving a broad spectrum of industries. Users have real-time access to
vehicle information including location, speeds traveled, stop time, miles driven and "live" boundary crossing notifications via text and full cartographic display. Tele Atlas data was selected because of the quality and degree of information including its fully attributed turn-by-turn data and real-time traffic feed, says the company. The seamless, door-to-door data includes street names and addresses and more than 30 categories of destinations or points of interest such as gas stations, hotels and one-way streets.
"We're honored that Navtrak has selected Tele Atlas data as part of these powerful solutions," said George Fink, chief operating officer of Tele Atlas. "There are a number of key benefits for businesses including improved customer service and increased driver and dispatcher efficiency, which help reduce operating costs and ultimately improve profitability."
In announcing the new agreement, Ron Hodges, CEO of Navtrak commented, "Through our relationship with Tele Atlas, Navtrak's solutions become even stronger. It gives fleet operators the ability to schedule deliveries in a way that meets customers' delivery time windows and minimizes the number of drivers required on each delivery day. The detailed maps make it possible for drivers not familiar with a specific area to efficiently navigate within it."
