SEMA, the Specialty Equipment Market Association, says it has posted 1,438 cars, trucks, and performance boats and 948 new automotive products displayed at SEMA Show 2002 in Las Vegas on its consumer Web site, www.enjoythedrive.com. "Our annual SEMA Show is open to participants in our industry but not to the general public. The Show receives a tremendous amount of media attention and piques consumer interest about what's on display there. By putting all the vehicles and new product entries online, and making them easily searchable, we can bring our famous SEMA Show to the public," said Christopher D. Horn, SEMA's vice president of communications and technology. Horn termed the vehicles, which range from outrageous concept cars to classic cars which are perfectly restored, "pure eye-candy." The new products have an equally broad diversity, ranging from the newest L.E.D. (light-emitting diode) cosmetic accessories for compact performance cars to replacement bumpers for muscle cars from the '50s to the latest in mobile electronics for family vehicles, he said. Although the SEMA Show, held annually for more than three decades, is not open to the public, SEMA does produce one show, the International Auto Salon, for the compact performance industry as well as its customers.
