The Society of Automotive Engineers, International have announced the appointment of Anthony A. "Tony" Androsky to the position of Director of Fuel Cell Initiative. In his new position, Androsky will lend his talents to the development of SAE Fuel Cell standards, as well as other Fuel Cell technology related tasks. Androsky comes to SAE on contract basis while serving as the Deputy Executive Director of the U.S. Fuel Cell Council in Washington, D.C., where he functions as the operations manager of the world's leading organization seeking to foster commercialization of Fuel Cells. He will remain in Washington, D.C. According to the company, the hiring of Androsky adds knowledge and leadership ability to SAE's Fuel Cell Initiative. "We are fortunate to have someone with Tony's expertise taking the helm of our fuel cell standards development," noted Jack Pokrzywa, SAE's manager of Ground Vehicle Standards. "SAE has a long, rich history of standards development for all of the mobility industries, and we will continue this tradition with emerging technologies like Fuel Cells. Our Automotive Headquarters in Troy, MI and the SAE Washington office will connect the industry with the government through a harmonized approach." Since its establishment in 1999, SAE's Fuel Cell Standards Committee says it has earned international recognition as the "go to" source for standards information in the area of fuel cells for mobility applications. Routinely, regulatory authorities both at home and abroad use SAE documents as a basis for their legislation. "Global Technology Regulations (GTR) for the Fuel Cell arena are just around the corner," Pokrzywa continued. "Tony's experience will directly contribute to SAE's ability to continue to provide leadership and guidance in this all-important area." Androsky is no stranger to SAE, according to the company. He spent several years on the SAE staff, serving in a variety of management roles. "We are pleased to welcome Tony back into the fold," said Raymond A. Morris, SAE's executive vice president. "He has broad experience in many facets of the mobility industry which will serve SAE and its members well." Additionally, Androsky served as the Director of Education at ITT Pittsburgh, responsible for the Electronic Engineering Technology and Computer-Aided Drafting faculty and labs. He also worked for the U.S. Department of Defense, serving as the Chief-Standardization/Evaluation for Airborne Command Post (ABNCP) communications platforms. Androsky has a Bachelor's degree from University of Southern Illinois in Electronics Management.
