Ryder Selects ActiveTrac as a Preferred Specialized Tracking Solution
Ryder System, Inc., which provides supply chain and fleet management solutions, and CoSite, Inc., a provider of logistics software solutions, on April 10 announced a technology partnership. Ryder has chosen CoSite's ActiveTrac(TM) product to support selected customers who require specialized tracking and visibility to monitor shipments of individual items within a controlled (non-third-party carrier) environment. The announcement was made jointly by Nancy Troutman, CoSite's chief operating officer, and Steve Hitchings, Ryder's group director of technology management. ActiveTrac(TM) from CoSite is a tracking software program. It allows for visibility and control of products while in transit through the use of timely information shared via the Internet. "ActiveTrac(TM) redefines supply chain management solutions in terms that fully capitalize on the power of the Internet," Troutman said. "Inventory can now be managed and proactive intervention can be taken during the entire time an item is in transit throughout the supply chain. This allows companies to optimize delivery routes and control load capacities." "After successfully using ActiveTrac(TM) in multiple locations, Ryder recognizes that ActiveTrac(TM) provides Internet-enabled supply chain visibility for product movement that is a critical requirement for our globally competitive customers," said Hitchings.
