PuraDYN® Filter Technologies Inc. announced Aug. 1 the introduction by Florida Congressmen Peter Deutsch (D) and Cliff Stearns (R) of legislation designed to promote oil bypass filtration as a means of saving on motor oil costs and protecting the environment against groundwater pollution. In introducing his legislation to the U. S. House Energy and Commerce Committee, Congressman Deutsch said that the purpose of his legislation is "to promote the use of oil bypass filtration technology (OBF) in vehicles by (1) directing the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency to conduct a joint study on the benefits of OBF in terms of reduced demand for oil and potential environmental benefits; (2) to require the Secretary and Administrator to examine the feasibility of using OBF in the Federal motor vehicle fleet; and (3) to modify the Federal Energy Star Program to add to the list of covered products, devices to extend the life of motor vehicle oil." The new bill was accepted by the Committee and is now proposed to be Section 163 of The Energy Advancement and Conservation Act of 2001 (HR 2587). According to Kevin G.
