Mitsubishi Fuso Consolidates North American Operations at Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America, Inc.
Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America will regain control of sales, marketing and distribution functions from Sterling Trucks organization of Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA). DTNA announced in October that the Sterling brand will be shut down.
Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), one of Asia's leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, announced Dec. 4 it is consolidating North American operations at Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America (MFTA) in Logan Township, N.J. MFTA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MFTBC, will now handle all brand-related operations, including vehicle sales, marketing, product applications, distribution, dealer relations, parts and service, and will be the dedicated wholesale organization for Mitsubishi Fuso in the U.S. and Canada.
Since January 2008, the brand's sales, marketing and distribution functions have been handled through the Sterling Trucks organization of Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA). Both DTNA and MFTBC are part of the Daimler Trucks Division of Daimler AG, so the set-up was designed to deliver maximum synergies and efficiencies in the North American commercial vehicle market.
In October, DTNA announced its future discontinuation of the Sterling brand in response to continuing depressed demand across the industry and structural changes in the company's core markets. With this development, Mitsubishi Fuso's sales, marketing, product application and distribution will transfer to MFTA.
Mitsubishi Fuso's comprehensive product range in North America includes diesel-powered, cab-over-engine trucks, ranging from 12,500 pounds to 33,000 pounds. An extensive dealer network includes 190 locations throughout the U.S. and Canada.
