Mapopolis Chooses NavTech Maps for Newest Product
Navigation Technologies, a provider of digital maps for vehicle navigation, Internet/wireless applications and business solutions announced Oct. 11 that Mapopolis, a mapping and navigation software provider for PDAs and other portable devices, has chosen NavTech maps for its newest product, Mapopolis Navigator Titanium Edition. Mapopolis Navigator Titanium Edition generates routes between selected start and end addresses or from a user's current location to a selected address. Navigator then alerts the user before each turn with visual and voice prompts. Should the user miss or make a wrong turn, the software instantaneously reroutes to the destination. Mapopolis Navigator Titanium Edition supports PocketPC 2000 and 2002 operating systems and provides users access to Navigation Technologies' complete continental US and major Canadian cities coverage, according to the company. "We set out to build the best navigation product, and to that end, we wanted to incorporate the best data possible. We use NavTech map data in our premium mapping and navigation software products because we have the confidence that their data is comprehensive and accurate," said Jeremy Straub, Mapopolis vice president. "By combining the best map data with our navigation software, we're providing a complete solution to our users who insist on only the best." Navigator will be available to end users from www.mapopolis.com for $89.95, along with Handango.com and other PDA software retailers. In conjunction with the new product release, Mapopolis will demonstrate its products at Navigation Technologies' partner booth at the 9th World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), a global conference and exhibition on transportation technology, taking place in Chicago's Lakeside Center at McCormick Place, October 14-17. Navigation Technologies and Mapopolis are offering show attendees the Mapopolis Application for Palm or PocketPC, along with a detailed map of the Chicago Area. The application and map are available for free at www.mapopolis.com/itsa.
