Kia Claims To Be Fastest To a Million Sales
According to the just-auto.com Web site, Kia has claimed to be the fastest company to sell a million cars in the USA, hitting the one million mark in just nine years to beat Toyota, the previous record holder, by four years. The millionth Kia in the US was a Carnival (Sedona) minivan sold to a California man. Kia products first arrived in America with Ford Festiva badges and were not sold under their makers’ name until 1994, the site reported. Kia Motors America has set a sales target of 265,000 for 2003- up more than 11 percent on 2002 – and expects to reach its second million in about four years, says the site.
