Electric vehicles (EVs) are finally reaching the mainstream, but do they make sense for fleets? A co-presentation from Kelley Blue Book and Vincentric will put this issue into perspective at the 2019 Fleet Forward Conference.

Karl Brauer, executive publisher for Cox Automotive overseeing Autotrader and Kelley Blue Book, will deliver an overview of the current EV market and examine the onslaught of EV models on the horizon.

“In the next 18 to 24 months, the change in availability of electric car models will be dramatic,” Brauer says. “But how well they’ll sell and be accepted by consumers, dealers, and fleets isn’t yet determined. We’ll clarify the issues for fleets.”

Following Brauer, Vincentric founder David Wurster will provide a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis. The data will show depreciation trends based on variables for annual mileage and length of service among EV models and non-EV models and how federal, state, and fleet incentives affect electric vehicles’ TCO.

Wurster will share Vincentric data on EV models including Tesla, Chevrolet Bolt, BMW i3, and Nissan Leaf, among others.

"Enough data is finally available to value electric vehicles in the aftermarket, giving us the ability to accurately define and estimate ownership costs,” said Wurster. “Access to this data is essential for fleets looking to get into electric vehicles.”

“We’re excited to have Kelley Blue Book and Vincentric team to deliver a deep dive into electric vehicles,” says Chris Brown, conference chair. “This seminar fits perfectly with the mandate of Fleet Forward — to give our fleet audience targeted, realistic solutions and strategies surrounding electrification, autonomous technology, connectivity, and sharing.”
