Sister firms Jaguar and 4x4 manufacturer Land Rover in October both continued their record-setting sales pace in the lucrative United States market, according to the Birmingham Post. During October Land Rover sold a total of 3,471 vehicles, a rise of 53 per cent. For the year to date Land Rover notched up sales of 33,531 vehicles, a rise of 63.3 per cent over the previous year's figure of 20,536, the Post reported. Much of the improved performance was due to sales of the Freelander, which is proving a massive hit in the United States, the Post said. Land Rover sold a total of 1,208 Freelanders during the month. Jaguar sold a total of 4,278 vehicles in the United States during October, a rise of four per cent. The X-Type was the company's most successful US export, notching up sales of 1,876, a rise of 6.9 per cent over the previous year's figure of 1,755, the Post reported.
