General Motors said its upcoming 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV will have a range of 82 miles when fully charged and will get an EPA-estimated combined city/highway 119 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe).

Performance-wise, GM said the Chevrolet Spark EV can accelerate from 0 to 60 in under eight seconds.

GM said the Spark EV will be the first vehicle on the market to offer the option of using the SAE combo charger for DC Fast Charging, which will allow owners to charge the vehicle up to 80% of its full charge in around 20 minutes. The automaker added the Spark EV’s battery system can handle multiple fast charges each day, and that the vehicle can also be charted in less than seven hours using a dedicated 240V charging system. A standard 120V charge cord package comes standard with the vehicle, GM stated.

Warranty-wise, GM said it will offer an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty on the 21 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The automaker builds the vehicle's motor and drive unit at its Baltimore operations plant in White Marsh, Md.
