Geeks On Call Selects Dynamic Mobile Data's MobileDispatch Software to Run Business Center

Dynamic Mobile Data Systems, Inc. (DMD) announced Mar. 12 that Geeks On Call America, LLC, a nationwide, on-site support network that brings computer solutions to small businesses and home users, has selected MobileDispatch software to run their centralized dispatch center.

"Our business concept is to provide our customers with high quality computer services in the form of a mobile business without the traditional overhead of a retailer," said Walter Ewell, president of Geeks On Call. "We're one of the fastest growing franchise opportunities in the U.S. today. Because of this, we knew we needed a powerful dispatch system, with wireless capabilities, that could manage job requests on a nationwide level, and we needed it in place quickly. We first met with Dynamic Mobile Data in September of 2001. Within three months, we had a fully functional system in place."

According to the company, using MobileDispatch, Geeks On Call assigns jobs, tracks their progress, and provides two-way communications with its franchisees, all in real-time, over the Cingular (a joint venture between SBC Communications and BellSouth) and the Motient wireless networks. Technicians currently use the Research In Motion 850, 950, 857, and 957 wireless handhelds, with additional mobile devices planned for the future.

"That's another reason we chose MobileDispatch," said Ewell. "We wanted to provide real-time, nationwide dispatching at a reasonable cost and we wanted the flexibility to add other devices and networks as our business needs and coverage areas expanded."

MobileDispatch makes it easy for companies, regardless of size, to deploy real-time dispatching and job status tracking without making a costly investment in infrastructure, or managing special networks or software, according to the company. Using an Internet connection and a Web browser, customers access the software via a secure login to www.mobiledispatch.com.

MobileDispatch says it enables companies to:

-- Assign jobs to existing equipment over the Internet
-- Track jobs from start to finish
-- Adjust schedules, real-time, according to business needs or other conditions
-- Virtually eliminate technicians' waiting time during service calls, or "dead" time in between calls
-- Produce real-time reports, such as electronic time sheets, time-stamped job history, productivity, project costs VS estimates, and scheduling
-- Virtually eliminate errors and misinterpretation due to voice or handwritten communications
-- Eliminate unneeded paperwork
