The national average price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline increased 6 cents to $2.39 for the week ending April 10 following the switch over to more expensive summer-blend gasoline and increased driving demand, according to AAA.
The average price is now 9 cents higher than a month ago and 35 cents higher than a year ago. Pump prices in 48 states and Washington, D.C. increased during the seven days.
The least expensive markets include South Carolina ($2.11), Alabama ($2.14), Tennessee ($2.14), Mississippi ($2.14), and Oklahoma ($2.15), while the most expensive markets include Hawaii ($3.04), California ($2.99), Washington ($2.89), Alaska ($2.88), and Oregon ($2.75). The largest weekly increases came in Kentucky (15 cents), Florida (12 cents), Michigan (12 cents), Indiana (11 cents), and Alaska (10 cents), AAA reported.
Meanwhile, the average price of diesel increased 2.6 cents to $2.582. Diesel is now 45.4 cents higher than a year ago, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
