Ford Improves Warranty, Roadside Assistance Package

2007 Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles to get extended powertrain coverage, complimentary roadside assistance for entire warranty period without raising retail prices.

Effective July 14, Ford is improving its powertrain limited warranties for 2007 Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles. The new warranties are 5 years or 60,000 miles for Ford and Mercury vehicles and 6 years or 70,000 miles for Lincoln products. Powertrain coverage continues after the expiration of the basic bumper-to-bumper warranty. Ford’s bumper-to-bumper warranties will continue unchanged, with 3 years or 36,000 miles for Ford and Mercury vehicles and 4 years or 50,000 miles for Lincoln vehicles. The powertrain limited warranty covers critical engine, transmission and front- or rear-wheel drive components, including 4x4 and all-wheel drive components and factory-installed superchargers and turbochargers. Ford will also offer complimentary roadside assistance, including towing, fuel and lock-out service for the entire warranty period. Different coverage limits apply to diesel and hybrid powertrains:

Ford and Mercury hybrids: extended 8-year/100,000 mile limited warranty that covers hybrid components, except in states that have adopted California emissions requirements, where the warranty is 10 years or 150,000 miles.
Ford 6.0-liter PowerStroke diesel: 5-year/100,000 mile engine warranty after base 3-year/36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty expires. The $100 deductible that applied after the expiration of the bumper-to-bumper warranty will be dropped.
Ford Focus: powertrain extended service coverage will essentially stay the same; 5-year/60,000 mile powertrain limited warranty with no deductible. Customers can receive a free 5-year/100,000 mile extended service plan with a $100 per-repair deductible after the base warranty period, where allowed by law. Ford does not foresee raising prices to offset the cost of the warranty under the terms of its “Way Forward” plan. The 2007 Expedition will be the only full-size SUV priced under $30,000 offering standard three-row side curtain air bags. New for the 2007 model year, Ford has made side air curtains or its advanced Safety Canopy system with rollover sensor standard equipment on 13 vehicles.
