Elite Logistics Inc., involved in the telematics industry, announced July 23 that it is teaming with Independent Witness Inc. (IWI), involved in event data recording technology, to develop "black box" technology for measuring and communicating data related to vehicle impacts, shipment damage and seismic monitoring. The integrated system will benefit companies by decreasing operational and insurance costs and improving safety processes, according to Elite and IWI. Elite and IWI have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to explore the integration of Elite's PageTrack(R) GPS based intelligent vehicle systems with IWI's The Witness "black box" and ASIP (Accident Severity & Injury Probability) database, which records and objectively analyzes auto collision information. "Our company was founded to provide a solution to the nearly $21 billion that businesses and individuals lose a year due to fraudulent injury claims in low impact collisions," said Luther Perkins, president/CEO of Independent Witness Inc. "The Witness and our ASIP database provide that solution; however, we are always looking at ways of leveraging our role as an information provider. By linking our products with Elite's PageTrack(R) system, we will not only be able to provide our fleet clients with near real-time collision notification along with information such as severity with potential correlation to probability of injury, but we will also be able to notify authorities in order for the appropriate help to be dispatched. Furthermore, Elite's Internet-enabled remote monitoring and control will bring operations cost savings to our fleet clients." About PageTrack(R) Elite's PageTrack(R) asset tracking and monitoring system combines the global positioning system and two-way wireless communications technology with the Internet to facilitate stolen vehicle recovery, roadside assistance, automatic collision notification and much more. PageTrack(R) users can log onto Elite's Web site and view on a map the current position of their vehicle and obtain detailed information such as speed, direction of travel, longitude, latitude, street location and travel history. PageTrack(R) provides a means for both individuals and businesses to remotely monitor and control their vehicles or other mobile and fixed assets. Depending on the installation configuration, common commands can include unlocking doors when keys have been locked inside, disabling the vehicle's starter in case of theft and monitoring a car's alarm or airbags for activation. PageTrack(R) owners can monitor their vehicle or receive an event notification (e.g. alarm activation) via a secure Internet link, a two-way pager, an Internet access-enabled cellular phone or Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), or by contacting Elite's 24-hour Customer Support Control Center. About the Witness and ASIP Database The Witness is billed as the first accident data recorder or "black box" for vehicles, designed to minimize fraud while recording the date, time and 3-dimensional impact acceleration that characterizes the severity of a motor vehicle accident. Where past accident situations were reconstructed with subjective data, the Witness now provides objective evidence to substantiate the forces involved in the accident. The Witness is then partnered with the ASIP database, a consumer based system that records every accident event submitted by any of the thousands of Witnesses in use. The ASIP database incorporates a 3-dimensional accurate account of the crash severity, the instantaneous change in velocity (delta V) and acceleration magnitude. The ASIP database also compares additional qualifiers such as road condition, vehicle type, model, year, occupant age, gender, seated position, belt use, pre-existing medical conditions, etc., to correlate the forces with subjective injury complaints. About Elite Logistics Inc. Elite Logistics Inc. is the parent company of Elite Logistics Services Inc., its wholly owned operating subsidiary based in Freeport, Texas. Elite is best known for its patent-pending PageTrack(R) family of Intelligent Vehicle Systems that integrate global positioning systems and two-way wireless telemetry technology to provide Internet-enabled tracking and control of vehicles and other assets. The company says it provides a comprehensive solution to the logistics needs of fleet managers and security needs of private vehicle owners. The PageTrack(R) family of Intelligent Vehicle Systems is distributed internationally through an expanding network of distributors and dealers. Elite is a certified value-added integrator for Motorola and utilizes the paging network of SkyTel, a subsidiary of MCI WorldCom. For additional information, visit www.elitelog.com.
