Company Releases 'First Compact-Retractable Heavy-Duty Truck Bed Extender for Pickups'
Auburn MetalFab, Inc. on Jan. 15 announced what it called "the first compact-retractable heavy-duty bed extender for pickup trucks." According to the company, the patented hide-a-bed Xtender is designed to fold down to two inches when not in use, compared to other "flip-down" designs. Auburn MetalFab said the Xtender provides an additional two feet of cargo space. "It is ideal for all short beds and 8 foot beds with tool boxes," the company said in a prepared statement. Auburn MetalFab said the Xtender is designed for easy installation. It is made of heavy gauge diamond plate aluminum with a bright-guard finish to protect against rust. Side panels are secured with clips to OEM tailgate receptors. The Xtender is compatible with bed caps and covers, according to the company.
