Chrysler’s Ram Truck brand announced at the National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) trade show that it is expanding the Ram 1500 Tradesman lineup to include crew and quad cab models. Chrysler originally only offered regular-cab models of the Tradesman.

The Tradesman comes equipped with Ram’s 4.7L V-8 FFV engine, which the company said is rated at 310 hp and 330 lb.-feet of torque. The vehicle gets 20 mpg EPA highway, according to Chrysler. The 4.7L V-8 provides a trailer-towing capability of 7,700 lbs. Chrysler also offers a 5.7L HEMI V-8 with 390 hp/407 lb.-feet of torque as an option. All Ram Truck engines, transmissions and axles are covered by a five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

Tradesman models also get styled, full-face steel wheels, a fully warrantied factory-equipped spray-in bedliner and a six-speed automatic transmission. In addition, Ram Tradesman 4.7L models now come with a no-cost RamBox cargo management system that includes lighted, lockable storage for tools and adjustable tie-downs, which Chrysler said is a $1,295 value.

Additional features include link-coil rear suspension, heavy-duty cooling, a Class IV receiver hitch, four- and seven-pin trailer connectors, in-floor storage on crew cab models, forward-opening doors on the Quad Cab models, power windows, and a six-speaker stereo with CD player and audio input jack.

Prices for the Ram Tradesman Quad Cab start at $27,330, including $995 destination charge. The Ram Tradesman Crew Cab starts at $29,810. Chrysler said it lowered Ram 1500 Tradesman regular cab prices to $22,370 (when equipped with 4.7L engine) for 2012.

The Ram 1500 Tradesman HD provides a towing capacity of 11,500 lbs. and a payload of 3,125 lbs. Available exclusively in a long-bed, regular cab 4x2 configuration, the Ram 1500 Tradesman HD is offered at a base MSRP of $29,600, including destination.
