Cellport Appoints Lee Jobe President and COO
Cellport Systems, Inc., a provider of automotive wireless communications technologies and products, announced Mar. 14 Lee Jobe as the company's new president and COO. As Cellport's new chief operating officer, Jobe will oversee Cellport's in-vehicle hands-free market, development of partnerships with automakers and retailers, and growth into new global markets including Asia and Europe. Jobe brings more than 25 years of combined experience in the automotive and telecommunications industries to Cellport. "Lee is an excellent addition to our executive team," said CEO and founder Pat Kennedy. "Using his strong skills in leading fast-growing businesses, Lee will build on our recent successes, including the launch of our successful Cellport Universal Hands-Free System, and the creation of key partnerships with automakers such as Ford Motor Company and Nissan, to extend our brand name and technologies throughout the world." Prior to joining Cellport, Jobe was president of global operations for Level 3 Communications. There he directed 4,500 employees across three continents, and was responsible for all global operations, including sales, marketing, regional strategic business units, customer installations, network operations, information technology and field operations. Previously, he was president of network and systems for Concert, a British Telecom/AT&T Global Venture, as well as president of Citizens Communications. Jobe also served as vice president of business operations for Pacific Bell, director of business operations for Sprint and manager and acting general manager of final operations for General Motors Corporation at their Fairfax, KS plant. He holds both a BA and an MA degree in economics from the University of Missouri, Kansans City.
