Cadillac to Offer Satellite TV
The system, TracVision A5, is the first to provide satellite TV as an accessory option. Programming is from DIRECTV.
Cadillac will begin offering live satellite TV as an option in Cadillac Escalade SUVs, according to a statement released last week from the equipment manufacturer and service provider. KVH Industries Inc., a maker of satellite TV receivers for cars, boats and trucks, said its system is the first automotive brand to offer live satellite TV as an accessory option. The system, TracVision A5, provides in-motion reception of over 135 channels of satellite TV programming from DIRECTV, Inc. Previously, car owners who wanted to install satellite TV systems had to buy them from electronics stores, then have them installed. Chris Watson, a KVH spokesman, said the recommended retail price for the option is $2,695, including an extended warranty. Customers who get the option will need to buy a subscription from DirecTV Group to get programming.
