Aether Systems Announces Availability of New Wireless and Mobile Logistics Solution
Aether Systems, Inc., a provider of wireless and mobile data solutions, announced the launch
of a new package tracking and proof of delivery application, 20/20 Delivery.
Based on the company's Fusion platform, 20/20 Delivery is a
wireless logistics application that provides complete visibility into the
supply chain, from package and vehicle tracking to driver management and
communication.
Corporate Express, a Buhrmann Company, one of the world's largest
business-to-business suppliers of essential office and computer products and
services, plans to deploy 20/20 Delivery, across its entire U.S. fleet of
more than 1,600 trucks. In doing so, Corporate Express joins several other
companies and government agencies that have chosen 20/20 Delivery as their
wireless logistics solution, according to the company.
According to the company, Aether 20/20 Delivery uses hand held computers in lieu of clipboards to
monitor driver and vehicle productivity. Real-time package and delivery
information is wirelessly delivered to the company's back-end data system,
helping improve customer service and payment cycles. Two-way messaging
allows drivers and operations personnel to communicate with each other in
real time, whether they need to confirm special delivery instructions or
cancel orders in progress.
"Aether is very pleased to bring to the market a complete logistics solution
that improves productivity, customer service and the bottom line for any
company that manages a fleet of delivery vehicles," said Gregg Smith,
president of Aether Systems Enterprise Mobility Solutions. "With 20/20
Delivery, we have put to use lessons learned over many years of creating
wireless logistics solutions to create a best in class product. The
decision by Corporate Express to install the solution on its entire fleet is
a very powerful validation and we look forward to a long and successful
relationship."
The company says 20/20 Delivery improves upon Aether's previous generation e-Mobile Delivery
application, and can be implemented as a real-time wireless solution or as a
mobile, synchronized solution or a combination of the two. Handheld device
options include the Pocket PC or Palm OS and the application runs on various
PDAs, including ruggedized Symbol and Intermec devices.
The company says comprehensive wireless tracking and management tools make 20/20 Delivery the
most efficient way of managing the delivery process from vehicle
monitoring and driver check-in reports, to real-time package status
information, to wireless proof of delivery.
Features of the solution include the following:
Signature capture
Electronic manifest management
Integrated barcode scanning
Capture route log and delivery information
Driver messaging
Wide area and local area wireless options
Robust reporting tool
Multiple legacy interface options For more information, please visit www.aethersystems.com.
