Welcome to the premier issue of Work Truck Magazine! You might ask why we decided to create a new magazine covering the work truck industry. The answer is that it is the fastest-growing segment of the commercial fleet market. Trucks comprise 61% of the current commercial fleet market.

Truck fleets have unique demands. Highly configurable, they offer multiple choices of powertrain and transmission combinations to suit specific vocational applications. Truck fleet managers work with secondary manufacturers (upfitters) in designing vehicles that best suit their function. And trucks are subject to local, state, and federal regulations beyond those that passenger vehicles face.

As a long-time participant in the fleet industry, Bobit Business Media (BBM) saw a need to focus on fleet managers who manage Class 1-6 trucks. We’ve spent a lot of time talking to readers just like you. From these conversations, we have developed a good feel of who you are and what types of information you want.

Work Truck is a bi-monthly magazine with a circulation of 75,000 fleet managers. It will feature informative articles on managing fleet operations comprised of highly diversified vehicle and equipment assets. A variety of fleet management needs will be covered, including vehicle acquisition, maintenance management, leasing and rental, engines, transmissions, fuel management, telematics, suspensions, lubricants/oils, remarketing, and truck equipment such as lifts, cranes, truck caps, and service bodies.

We invite you to also take a minute to visit our Web site, www.worktruckonline.com, for the latest news, articles, statistics, safety information, and more. Don’t forget to sign up for our free Work Truck eNewsletter while you’re there. Have the latest fleet truck management news come straight to you.

Although this is the first issue of Work Truck, we are no novices to the fleet industry. Work Truck magazine is produced by the editors of Automotive Fleet, Fleet Financials, Government Fleet, and Business Driver magazines. Visit www.fleet-central.com for more details.  We’ve been publishing magazines on fleet management for more than 45 years.

As the headline of this editorial implies, we want to become your resource for current, up-to-date information that matters most to you, the fleet manager. But more than that, we want to be your magazine. Let us know if there are specific areas in which you want or need more in-depth information. We will listen. We have the resources and expertise to provide it to you; all you have to do is ask.
