USIC, a company that specializes in underground utility infrastructure damage prevention, has installed Derive Systems’ customized vehicle software to improve safety and productivity across its fleet.

With more than 9,000 utility vehicles in operation, USIC wanted to decrease costs associated with fuel use, establish improved accident prevention measures to mitigate accident costs, improve productivity, and improve overall driver safety. But as a business that typically experiences high driver turnover, it wanted a solution that would not require extensive training to shift driver behavior.

“As part of the proactive approach USIC was looking for, we customized their fleet vehicle settings related to both forward and reverse speed and fuel consumption with a single ‘install-it-and-forget-it' solution,” explained Erica Fine, senior director enterprise sales at Derive. “Now, our client can experience guaranteed fuel savings and improved fleet safety and sustainability with one solution.”

USIC installed Derive’s calibration software, which allows management to set speed limits on fleet vehicles, on more than 8,000 in-field and upfitter vehicles over a four-month period.
