Ford Motor Co. is recalling 658 2016 model-year Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ sedans in the U.S. so dealers can replace the fuel tanks.

The safety compliance recall will address fuel tanks that might have been manufactured improperly, in violation of federal safety standards for fuel system integrity. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source poses a fire risk.

Ford, however, noted it isn’t aware of any accidents, injuries or fires associated with this issue.

The recalled Ford Fusion sedans were built Sept. 3-13 at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant in northern Mexico. The Lincoln MKZ vehicles were assembled at the same plant Sept. 3-12.

There will be no charge for the recall remedy.

In addition to the 658 vehicles recalled in the U.S., Ford is calling back 28 in Canada and 22 in Mexico for the same problem.
