For MY-2014, Chrysler offers an all-new gasoline V-8 engine for its Ram Heavy Duty pickup truck models, along with a range of other features. New features include a gooseneck/fifth wheel capability, a new dual alternator system, new wheel packages, a factory rear air suspension system for the Ram 2500 and an exclusive factory supplemental air suspension system for the Ram 3500.

The all-new 6.4L HEMI V-8 in the 2014 Ram Heavy Duty can produce 410 hp at 5,600 rpm and has a peak torque rating at 429 lb.-ft. at 4,000 rpm. This engine is matched with a 66RFE six-speed automatic transmission. Engine features include exhaust gas recirculation, variable valve timing, and Chrysler’s Fuel Saver cylinder deactivation technology.

Another new system on the Ram Heavy Duty is an all-new five-link coil rear suspension system, which allows the Ram 2500 to tow up to 17,940 lbs. Ram Truck also offers a rear air suspension system for the Ram 2500. An air bag replaces the coil spring, which allows for load leveling. When the vehicle is carrying a load in its bed, the system can increase pressure in the air bag until the truck reaches a normal ride height, thereby improving stability.

The Ram 3500 comes with a a rear Hotchkiss leaf spring system but Ram Truck will offer a supplemental air suspension system on SRW and DRW applications.

The Ram Power Wagon model comes with a modified front three-link system that features high-movement links, allowing for more flexibility and axle articulation. This model also features the new five-link rear coil suspension on the Ram 2500.

For 2014, another new towing-related feature is gooseneck or fifth-wheel capability. The Ram features an in-box connection junction and a standard Class 4 and 5 receiver hitch with a four- or seven-pin connector on the bumper.

Another new feature is a different alternator system for Ram Heavy Duty models equipped with the 6.7L diesel engine, which features dual 220-amp alternators. The Ram 2500 and 3500 equipped with the 6.4L engine will feature an alternator system that comes with 220- and 160-amp units.

In addition to these features, the Ram 2500 will offer different 18- and 20-inch wheel choices, including forged aluminum, polished wheels with painted, white gold painted pockets, and cast aluminum with silver inserts. Next, a cargo view camera provides a view of the bed, allowing the driver to see behind the vehicle when using a fifth wheel or gooseneck trailer.

Ram 2500 Crew Cab models also offer a flat-load floor option. This option features fold-out panels that create a flat surface across the floor of the seating area in the back of the cab.

For paint choices, Chrysler offers a total of 12 colors and two new choices, Blue Streak and Granite Crystal, each in a monotone or two-tone version, depending on the vehicle model.
