Father’s Day may be behind us, but DECKED is keeping the dad love going with a new program aimed at helping working fathers reclaim some quality time with their kids. The DTO (Dad Time Off) initiative, launched in honor of Father’s Day, offers to cover a full day’s wages for 100 dads so they can take a break from work and be there for the moments that matter.
According to a DECKED-commissioned survey, 65% of U.S. dads have missed an important event or activity with their children due to work obligations. And even when they do take time off, 43% report feeling financial stress from losing income just to be present.
“We know the moments that matter most often come at a cost,” said Bridget Noonan, senior brand director at DECKED. “For many working dads, being present for their kids can mean missing out on a paycheck. So, for at least one day, we want to eliminate that tough choice.”
How to Enter the 'Dad Time Off' Program
Submissions for the DTO program are open through June 27. You can nominate yourself or a dad in your life at decked.com/DTO. Winners will receive a day’s wage reimbursement to make space for one more memory-making moment.
And when asked what would help the most in spending more time with their kids, 60% of dads pointed to more PTO or a flexible work schedule as top solutions.
Editor’s Note: Programs like DECKED’s DTO are sparking bigger conversations around how we support dads. One standout example? Silver Rail Elementary in Oregon is running a Watch D.O.G.S. program (Dads of Great Students), encouraging fathers to actively participate on campus — helping in classrooms, keeping an eye on recess, and simply showing up. It’s a great reminder that small, intentional actions can have a lasting impact.
