Although the Ford Transit full-size van is brand new to North America, it has dominated the European market for nearly 50 years. More than seven million Transit commercial vans have been produced and sold around the world since the vehicle was introduced in 1965. Nissan entered the full-size van market with the NV cargo van for the 2012 model year, and has made incremental upgrades since that intial vehicle.

The Ford Fusion Hybrid is a very fuel-efficient vehicle that has earned an EPA rating of 47 mpg on the city and highway. The Fusion Hybrid is also a strong contributor to corporate sustainability goals by emitting only 190 grams of CO2 per mile. It earned Automotive Fleet's 2014 Fleet Car of the Year award. The Ford E-Series vans, while being slowly phased out by the all-new Ford Transit, bring several layers of chassis options, body styles, and engine choices. Volkswagen's Passat TDI, which was first introduced for the 2012 model year, offers an affordable mid-size sedan with a 2.0L four-cylinder diesel engine with excellent fuel economy (an EPA-rated 40 mph highway) and a range of well over 600 miles from the more than 18-gallon tank.
