Toyota Motor North America held its 2018 Fleet Executive Meeting at its new corporate headquarters in Plano, Texas, June 5 to 7. During the two-day event, attendees had an opportunity to tour the new facilities; listen to in-depth product presentations from subject-matter experts; get a preview of the new-model rollout schedules; and test-drive the Toyota vehicle lineup, including three redesigned 2019 models – RAV4, Avalon, and Corolla Hatchback, which are now built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform. John Dmochowsky, global fleet manager for Mondelez International, networks with Robyn Tittsworth, contract manager for Univar. Prior to the start of the fleet meeting, there was a morning networking event and coffee break in the Sequoia Center foyer.

Bryce Merckling discussed mobility, telematics, and data services to be offered by Toyota Connected, which is a collaboration between Microsoft and Toyota. Microsoft serves as Toyota’s data science hub as it works to connect cars to daily lives of vehicle users. Microsoft’s Azure will be the cloud computing platform for Toyota Connected products and services.

The 2019 RAV4 is offered in three models, including a hybrid with eCVT with AWD-i, a FWD 2.5L gasoline model, and an AWD 2.5L gasoline model. Vehicle specs were presented by Jeff Halsey, vehicle marketing and communication planner CUV/SUV for TMNA. The 2019 RAV4 is built on the TNGA platform, with all LED lighting, and offers enhanced safety equipment.

A presentation on the 2019 Avalon was given by Cole Young, senior analyst vehicle marketing for TMNA.The Avalon is powered by a 3.5L V-6 gasoline engine mated to an 8-speed transmission or 2.5L 4-cylinder ECVT hybrid powertrain that is available in the XLE, XSE, and Limited models.

Jordan Pauly, vehicle marketing and communications for Toyota North America, gave a presentation on the 2019 Corolla Hatchback, which features the all-new 2.0L Dynamic Force I-4 powertrain and is the first model in North America with the enhanced Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) 2.0 system.
