Video: Oklahoma Electric Utility Employee Killed in Railroad Accident
Bob Waterson, an Edmond Electric employee for nearly 34 years, was struck and killed by a train while working. He was 57.

At the time of the accident, Waterson, a lead journey lineman, was removing his truck that had been stuck near the railroad tracks earlier in the day while working to de-energize lines that were no longer in use, according to the utility company.
Edmond police told News 9 that the victim and a tow truck operator were working to get his Edmond Electric truck out of the brush.
“The tow truck driver did tell our officers that they were trying to get a vehicle that was stuck, trying to move it, trying to hook it up and move it, and the train was coming and he didn't get off the tracks fast enough,” Edmond Police Department Spokeswoman, Jenny Monroe said, as reported by News 9.
“We are incredibly saddened and shocked by this tragic accident,” said Glenn Fisher, director of Edmond Electric, in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Bob’s family, friends and co-workers. He was a valued part of our team and this a big loss for many people.”
An investigation into the accident is currently underway by the Edmond Police Department.
The funeral service was scheduled for Aug. 16. Click here for Waterson’s full obituary.
Earlier this month, there was a separate utility truck-related railroad accident in Texas involving a nonprofit utility company. The employees involved were treated for non-life threatening injuries. You can read more here.
