Wilton, Conn.-based KTI Utility Construction was cited by the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) after an employee in a boom truck was electrocuted and killed and on the job last year.

According to OSHA’s report, a KTI employee was preparing a worksite for utility pole installation when his bucket truck came in contact with the energized transmission line. The employee was electrocuted and later died. The company was issued a $2,800 fine, which was later settled at $2,000.

The Hour reports that the utility contractor was cited for failing to ensure the derrick boom truck was operated at a safe distance from the exposed power line. The company also failed to ensure a designated employee was present to maintain that safe distance.
