Nissan is rolling out standard cab models of its Titan and Titan XD pickups for the 2017 model year that provide a more affordable entry point for commercial and fleet users, Nissan has announced.
Nissan showed its Titan and Titan XD Single Cab models to automotive journalists in Carmel, Calif., at a July 25 media event. The Single Cab models join existing Crew Cab models of the trucks. Nissan also plans to offer King Cab extended cab models. The Single Cab models will be available in the fall.
This is the first standard cab version of the Titan, which received a significant makeover for the 2016 model year with the introduction of the diesel-powered Titan XD that's equipped with a 5.0L V-8 Cummins turbo diesel. Nissan is also offering a 5.6L Endurance V-8 gasoline Titan.
The Single Cab Titan will be available with either engine choice as well as with a rear-wheel or 4x4 drivetrain.
The Titan will eventully be available with a choice of three cabs, three bed lengths, three engines, 4x4 and 4x2 drive and S, SV, SL, PRO-4X and Platinum Reserve trim levels. The Single Cab trucks will be paired with an 8-foot pickup bed. The Titan and Titan XD will feature separate fully boxed ladder frame chassis.
Nissan expects to sell 16% of its Titan trucks with Single Cabs, said Phil O'Conner, Nissan's director and chief marketing manager for trucks.
Nissan will offer the Single Cab Titans to fleets who are buying its NV and NV200 vans, and the trucks could also find a place in more goverment fleets ue to the lower entry price, O'Conner added.
