NAVTECH(R) Maps Give Direction to HP's iPAQ Navigation System
Navigation Technologies, a provider of digital maps for vehicle navigation, Internet/wireless, government and business solutions, on Oct. 14 announced that NAVTECH(R) Maps are powering the new HP iPAQ Navigation System. With NAVTECH premium data "giving it direction," HP's wireless portable navigation system offers users route guidance nationwide from one destination to another. Some key features of the iPAQ Navigation System that are enabled by NAVTECH Maps include:
Voice prompted address-to-address, turn-by-turn directions
Voice, text and graphic instructions
Dynamic route guidance making automatic re-routing possible
Millions of convenient points of interest covering 46 categories such as local ATMs, gas stations, parking and restaurants
Real-time tracking and detailed street maps
Important road network information like one-way streets, turn restrictions and speed categories
The solution brings together HP's technology and NAVTECH Maps to create a totally portable (from your car to your briefcase), totally wireless (Bluetooth(TM) enabled) GPS enabled package. "The result is the transformation of an HP iPAQ Pocket PC into a sophisticated personal navigation system, bringing increased functionality and utility to the PDA," according to Navigation Technologies. The product package contains a Bluetooth wireless GPS receiver, software, and maps of the United States and Canada.
