Navigation Technologies Corporation (NTC), a provider of navigable map databases and street network data for North America and Europe, announced on March 30 the availability of NAVTECH(R) NAVSTREETS(TM) version 2.0. According to company officials, this latest upgrade now offers clients three product levels –- NAVSTREETS Base, NAVSTREETS Standard and NAVSTREETS Premium -– and considerably expands the wealth of road-network coverage, segment-level attributes and roadway signage, providing an even stronger mission-critical dataset for customers who depend on accurate street-network data to fulfill business demands. “The comprehensive coverage and breadth of navigable attributes offered in NAVSTREETS 2.0 further emphasize our commitment to our ground-truth campaign, and provides customers in North America and Europe with a street-network database that’s unrivalled in accuracy and detail,” said Randy Peterson, Navigation Technologies vice president and general manager of business solutions, North America. “Whatever the application, be it telematics, E-911 dispatch, route optimization or utility network planning, NAVSTREETS will be the core component to drive its success.” Navigation Technologies’ NAVSTREETS database is a digital representation of the road networks in both North America and Europe that provides unparalleled accuracy and depth of attributes. Street network data is accurate to within 15 meters for both sides of the street, according to Peterson, and includes 41 layers of mapping information and 65 navigable attributes. NAVSTREETS North America provides 9,802,609 total links; 1,850,686 total miles; 303,513 turn restrictions; 179,340 exit ramp signs and 1,314,793 one-ways. It also includes tollbooths, postal names, 911 addressing, vanity addresses and over 700,000 points of interest (POI), according to Peterson. NAVSTREETS 2.0 expands on this package to deepen the coverage, detail and product offerings. This latest North American release includes 651,215 new links; 69,051 new miles; 10,089 updates to turn restrictions; 45,925 link changes to one-ways and 1,332 new exit signs. In addition, customers can now choose from three product levels. NAVSTREETS Base provides map display and automatic vehicle location; NAVSTREETS Standard provides all features in the Base product plus geocoding capabilities; and NAVSTREETS Premium provides all features in the Standard product plus routing capabilities. For the Standard and Premium products, NAVSTREETS 2.0 has added 12 additional attributes to enhance geocoding abilities as well as two additional attributes for the POI layers. About NAVSTREETS(TM) NAVSTREETS data provides a complete, up-to-date real world representation of the street network. In addition to 100 percent coverage of main roadways throughout North America, NAVSTREETS data provides detailed-level coverage for every road in areas in which more than 57 percent of the North American continent’s population live and work. NAVSTREETS data contains navigable driving attributes for each roadway segment as well as addresses and points of interest in 40 categories such as restaurants, hotels, convention centers, and many more.
