WASHINGTON, D.C. --- According to data from R.L. Polk and Co., there were 10.5 million alternative-fuel autos on the nation's roads in 2006, with 60 alternative-fuel models available on the market. The Polk sales figures also reveal that 1.5 million alternative-fuel autos were sold in 2006. Those numbers will continue to rise. According to the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, additional alternative-fuel models planned for future production include: In the hybrids category: Audi Q7 Diesel and Hybrid Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid Ford Fusion Hybrid Ford Expedition Diesel and Hybrid GMC Yukon Hybrid Lincoln MKZ Hybrid Mazda Tribute Hybrid Mercury Milan Hybrid Porsche Cayenne Hybrid In the diesels/biodiesels category: Chevrolet Silverado Ford F-150 GMC Sierra Hummer H2 Volkswagen Jetta In the ethanol (E-85) category: Ford Interceptor Lincoln MKR Toyota Tundra In the hydrogen category: Ford Airstream "There are 10.5 million alternative-fuel autos on the roads and highways of every state across the country.
